OLD BUSINESS
Use of funds from CBC Fundraiser - Hershey Zoo America will be presented on March 9, 2015 at a cost of $380. Linette has been in contact with the Gettysburg Area School District for additional publicity for this program and will report back to the board. The remaining amount of $245 will be donated to the 3 local elementary schools. The librarian(s) will be asked to submit a list of the chosen books for this Board’s approval.
UPON MOTION DULY MADE, SECONDED AND CARRIED
Resolved that: The remaining amount of $245 will be donated to the 3 local elementary schools so that they can purchase library books about wildlife, nature, or birds in the United States.
There is a possibility that some of the teachers in the Gettysburg Area School District will request Audubon Adventures materials for their classrooms next year. The cost is about $45 per classroom. This is a possible use of additional fundraising money that might be raised this year. Another idea is to suggest that members “adopt” a classroom and donate the money toward the purchase of this classroom periodical.
Members’ Favorite Birdwalks – A November trip to the lakes in the Fairfield area was discussed. More details will be shared later.
Agway Donation – Carole Simon visited the Agway store and was told that the “1cent per pound” proceeds from this year’s sale from October and November will again be donated to SMAS. Efforts are still ongoing to get a check for the last 2 years.
NEW BUSINESS
Annual Luncheon – Dates for the luncheon at Hickory Bridge were discussed. Ideas for speakers are welcomed. Deb will contact Hickory Bridge.
UPON MOTION DULY MADE, SECONDED AND CARRIED
Resolved that: The Annual Luncheon will be held again at Hickory Bridge on either April 18th or 25th of 2015.
CBC Fundraiser for 2014 – Linette will adjust the flier that was distributed last year and forward it to Mike O’Brien for distribution to the membership as soon as possible. A description of the use of last year’s funds will be included as well as other options for supporting the fundraiser.
UPON MOTION DULY MADE, SECONDED AND CARRIED
Resolved that: SMAS will use the CBC fundraiser to raise funds for educational purposes.
Other Donations – Mike Bertram suggested having a donation basket at the monthly meetings. Those people who are not members of SMAS will be encouraged to donate for the use of the building.
Change of January 2015 Meeting – In light of the amount of members that are going to be absent in January, Linette raised the possibility of having elections at a later time. It was determined that it is best to leave things as they are.
The next meeting of the SMAS Board will be at 4:00 on February 23, 2015 at the Adams County Agricultural Center.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Linette Mansberger
