Meeting Business

We celebrated (with delicious burgers, salad, chocolate zucchini bread and black berry pie) the many contributions that have made the AmeriCorps visit a success – particular gratitude to the commitments Henry, Bob, Mike Bertram and Kent have made to the process.

Chrome Brochure

Kent received our feedback on the final configuration of the map – use aerial   8.5 x 14 with small insert

Pal’s Path – diamond red on white diamond;
Laurel Trail – TNC white round disks
Chrome Trail – 2 x 6 rectangular metal yellow
Unblazed link trails – Holly will pick another color

Bob Gray is taking responsibility for amending the text and will get this to FedEx printer by August 29/30.   He will contact Pal for oral history on the acquisition of the property.

Cost of printing 500 brochures:  $280.   Bob will check to see if that includes 4-part folds.

Fall Workdays

Henry will draft a schedule of maintenance workdays for October – December and provide to Anna and Mike Bertram who will update our outreach material.   Anna will share with Herrs.

We discussed the pros and cons of promoting  regular monthly pattern, of having a mix of Fridays and Saturdays, and of concentrating workdays in late winter/early spring to go after green briar before other plants are ready to emerge.

AmeriCorps project festivities

Henry will  work with AmeriCorps to identify the best day (9/12?  9/10?) for a thank-you cook out; then reserve a pavilion through Jay Gregg.   Refreshment logistics for this event and the Chrome trail opening (9/8) will have to be worked out by email/phone.

Fall media outreach campaign

Jen Rehill is working with Bob on the final tweaks to our press release.   The goal is to disseminate now and on the Tuesday before the event (9/3).   David will use the release to reach out to contacts at Chester County Press and Avon Grove Sun.  He will give Bob’s name as contact to arrange photo shoots/interviews with AmeriCorps volunteers.  Anna will distribute a stack at Oxford Public Library and Oxford Arts Alliance First Friday reception (9/6).

Volunteer Contributions

As part of our annual report (and as data for potential grant applications), Henry is trying to keep track of the volunteer hours contributed to the organization.   He asked Board members to keep track of the amount of time they have spent not only on workdays and meetings, but in writing and other work between meetings.

Next Board Meeting

Skip September to recover from AmeriCorps.

Plan to meet October 25 from 4-6.
