B) Action Items Going Forward

Molly Anderson

Mike Bertram:

Point person for our history initiatives

Bob Gray:

Will provide David with version of June 24 power point slides that could be emailed to municipal officials who missed the meeting.

Will participate with Anna and Tracy on July 3 (9am) conference call to discuss potential grant applications.

Will ask Molly to lead Sunday, Sept. 27, Serps Stewardship Day at Upper Chrome

Will contact Ray Hayden about clearing the trail to Site 19 at Goat Hill.

Will take responsibility for sharing proposed fall workday schedule with our stakeholders.

Point person for science and education initiatives.

Chris Hoess:

Anna Hull:

Will participate with Bob and Tracy on July 3 (9am) conference call to discuss potential grant applications.

Will remind Marci that we are waiting to hear back about our form: Is she is comfortable having us use revised FSLSB/PPFF release. Do we need to signatures on workman’s comp forms for Goat Hill?  

Will check in with Carol Loeffler to identify where best to move remaining Glade Spurge cages and explore when we might resume assembly work.We will ask BoF to move remaining cage kits to a site closer to the remaining locations Carol has identified.

Will check with Chris to see if Saturday, July 18 will work for walk at

Goat Hill or ask him to suggest an alternative date.

            Will save updated workday spreadsheet to Dropbox

Anna and Tracy will pursue contacts in Girl Scouts to see if October event can involve them.

Sunday, Oct. 11, Serps Ecology Hike, Goat Hill Rose Trail (tentative leader)

Point person for science and education initiatives.

Tracy Raymond

Will participate with Anna and Bob on July 3 (9am) conference call to discuss potential grant applications.

Will update our volunteer contact spreadsheet (split out workday volunteers from folks receiving general interest emails) and ensure that Stewardship Day leaders get updated email lists.

            Will line up walk leaders for Bluebirds and Butterflies event.

Anna and Tracy will pursue contacts in Girl Scouts to see if October event can involve them.

            Point person for membership and outreach initiatives.

David Ross:

Will contact Molly to identify dates in July that will work for TNC staff for a meeting to discuss controlled burns, then Bob will follow up with Joe and Jay. 

Will let Rick and Joe know about July 11 mini-workday at Goat Hill.

Once Bob confirms New Texas date, will l connect Tracy to Tom Stahl to arrange for New Texas Serps days to be promoted via Lancaster County Conservancy Facebook. 

Will send all board members old action that were tabled during the winter 2014/15 to be revisited and/or completed this summer

Will consult with Bob about next steps in outreach to local municipalities and watershed associations.

Saturday, Sept. 12, Serps Stewardship Day at New Texas leader (David and Kent backup)

Will talk with Harold Sweetman at Octoraro Native Plants (?) to explore possibility of donating plants as door prizes for participating in 9/19 event

Will pursue contact with Lenni Lenape for November event. We are open to a modest honorarium.

Will identify costs and feasibility of using Oxford Presbyterian Church for November event.

Point person for conservation/maintenance planning

Bob will contact Rick Hartlieb and Kelly Stich to share our desire to

i)                    finish assembling the Glade Spurge cages

Anna, Carol Loeffler and Chris Hoess worked at Goat Hill on June 17 from 7:30-1:00 assembling cages.  Carol is working on a write up.  Once we have that in hand, we will ask BoF to move remaining cage kits to a site closer to the remaining locations Carol has identified.

ii)                  Remove cedars from Site 91

We confirmed our tentative plan to schedule this work for Saturday, July 11 – meet at Goat Hill parking lot at 7:30; out by 10am.  David will let Rick and Joe know of our plan. Tracy to advertise on Facebook

iii)                Approach Boy Scouts about clearing the trail to Site 19

Still on Bob’s to do list.

Chris Hoess:

            Will identify photos and other content for Facebook and web pages.

Basic idea is to have a older (Lincoln U or girl scouts?) students staff stations along a trail with activities or information at each station.   There is an existing nature trail at the Park.  They might harvest warm season grasses

November  (day remains uncertain), Member Appreciation Event with brief talk on Native American interaction with the local environment

Henry to pursue contact with Lenni Lenape. We are open to a modest honorarium.

Henry to identify costs and feasibility of using Oxford Presbyterian Church. Other possible locales include Oxford Friends Meeting, Union Fire Company, West Grove Friends Meeting

Consider partnering with OHA to expand potential attendance
