Chrome Activity Report for 5th June 2015

Title: Workday Report FSLSB Chrome Barrens 5 June 2015 

Location: Upper and Lower Chrome Serpentine Barrens.

Accomplishments: Lower Chrome: opened three connectors (one quite large) between grasslands 9 and 14.

Upper Chrome: cleared the area behind the parking lot of pines and also knocked back the greenbriar.  They also cleared the vast majority of saplings on the scraped area.  The scraped area was wet from the rain over the previous days and there was an area of ’quicksand’ - which was actually a glutinous dirt that grabbed hold of your boots and would not let go!

The trash in the parking lot showed evidence of a number of activities - likely by youngsters.There was a deal of spiked lobelia in flower in the open area on both sides of the road.  I wish I could identify more of the plants in the scraped area.
