Friends of the SLSB Activity Report
for 15th March 2013

In attendance: Henry Whitesel, Kelly Sitch, and Bob Gray.

Location: Goat Hill Barrens Undesignated Serpentine Clearing just east of Site 96.

Accomplishments: We started at 0900 and finished about 2:30. We accessed the Goat Hill state forest from Minns Road in Maryland. The day was warm (near 60 degrees) and sunny most of the time.

All three of us volunteers removed debris from previously cut trees. Kelly Sitch cut green briar with a brush whacker. We moved a lot of wood from the site and the area looks much neater. The opening up of this site will allow serpentine grasses to spread and perhaps compete with the invasive green briar.

I give a special thank you to Kelly Sitch for coming out to help us as a new volunteer. He donated his personal time to help us on this Saturday and we greatly appreciate his effort.
