Friends of the SLSB Activity Report
for 19th September 2014

In attendance: Henry Whitesel, Mike Waltz, Mike Bertram, John Nissen (State Forest Ranger), and Rick Deppen (State Forest Ranger)

Location: Goat Hill along side of field to south of Red pump Road and grassland #74 next to Rose Trail.

Accomplishments: We met at 0900 and quite about 2pm. We trimmed the access roads to the shed owned by The Nature Conservancy in the meadow down near the drainage run across the road on the farm that Elam King operates. We now access the shed by going down across the southern end of the field off Pleasant Road. See attached pictures of Mike Bertram and Mike Waltz. You can see that Mike W is having too much fun running the pole saw. I’ll have to work that man harder. But this is a volunteer activity and we work at our own chosen speed.

After lunch we cut greenbriar and trees in area # 74. We are restoring it to savannah form. It is the the first major serpentine area encountered on The Rose Trail.

Volunteer time on task: 15 hours.
