Nottingham County Park Activity Report
for 5th January 2012

In attendance: Henry Whitesel, Mike Waltz, Kent Wagner, Shawn Yoder, and Jay Gregg

Accomplishments: We started at 0900 and finished about 1400. The day was cloudy and cool; actually it was cold, but not as cold as it may be later. We drove to the work area, entering the park off Ridge Road. Henry and Kent cut dead trees that were burned over by the fire 2 and 1/2 years past. Mike operated the brush whacker and carved paths through the green briar and berry bushes. Shawn and Jay loaded the truck with the tree remains and hauled them away for disposal. In this particular area, the briars seem to be competing very well with the Serpentine grasses. Just south of Firebreak #6 the Serpentine grasses are doing very well and that is the goal for the area we were cutting.

Again we had a new volunteer, Shawn Yoder. Thanks to Shawn for giving his time and energy to help preserve the Serpentine grasses in the park. We greatly appreciated his effort.

Issues: None. .
