Significant Milestones

 

1980s The Pilot Barrens are preserved through The Nature Conservancy (TNC) purchasing 32 acres of land and setting up a management agreement with the Gird Scouts of Central Maryland for another 60 acres.

1993, 1996, 2007, and 2009 prescribed burns took place.

The Friends have provided support to TNC Maryland through clearing the area and making fire breaks. No reports have been written for many of the restoration activities, for example 8/10/2006.
