Beans Mineral Railway Cars

image not foundDescription: View of three abandoned, partially salvaged wooden body gondola/dumper style cars at the disused Beans Quarry And Sand Company narrow gauge railroad terminal yard at the Company’s rock crusher in Valley Forge Village. This rear view shows the car end, link and pin type coupler and the side drop doors of these cars which brought quartzite rock and sand down from the Bean Sand And Quarry Company’s quarries on Mt. Misery to the company’s rock crusher for processing and shipment via a siding on the Reading Railroad. One of the car’s trucks is visible under the rear end of the closest car. The horizontal style handbrake application wheels at the far ends of the two more distant cars are visible in this photo. - Jim Brazel
