Bean Mineral Railway Locomotive

image not foundDescription: Front/right quarter view of abandoned Climax Class B geared logging locomotive at the disused Beans Quarry And Sand Company narrow gauge railroad terminal yard at the Company’s rock crusher in Valley Forge Village. At right of the photo the engine and car service facility’s water tank for supply to the steam locomotive’s water tank has been overturned from its concrete elevated foundation. The headlamp, round front smokebox door and most of the sheet metal sheathing on the boiler have been removed since active use. A photo and information on a similar Climax Class B locomotive in operating order may be found at TEHS Image Collection Identifier RR02, SN 1175. Research on the Climax Manufacturing Company’s production and sales indicates that a Class B locomotive of 40 tons weight was sold to Beans Sand And Quarry Company in or before the year 1915.
