Llewellyn Davis (1695-1756) the Hammer. Son of Thomas David, Tredyffrin. He was the first Smith working for Wm. Moore. Moore became offended because Llewellyn, purchased some Pickering lots that Moore wanted. He was discharged, which resulted in building of another Blacksmith shop on the banks of the Pickering. . Llewellyn, paid 11 pounds tax in Charlestown, Will probated in 1756. He left 5 children: Isaac 1725-1764 married an Elizabeth, Children: Israel 1759-1832, Llewellyn .b.1764 died May 10, 1806 married a Martha 1763-1812..

General Notes:

John Davis was a Lieutenant in Farmer's Company of Miles' Pennsylvania State Rifle Regiment. Later he was a Captain in the 9th and 1st Pennsylvania Regiments of the Continental Line. He was an original member of the Pennsylvania Society of the Cincinnati. He later was a Brigadier General of the Pennsylvania Militia and an Associate Judge of the Chester County Court.

He was the son of Isaac Davis and Elizabeth Bartholomew.

Capt. John Davis 1753-1827 Member: The General Society of the Cincinnati was founded in May 1783 at Mount Gulian, the Verplanck family estate at Fishkill, New York, by the Continental Army Officers who fought in the American Revolutionary War. Of the 5,500 Officers who were eligible to join, 2150 did so. George Washington was elected the first President General of the Society in December 1783 until his death in 1799. He was succedded by Alexander Hamilton. The Society,is named for Lucius Quintus Cininnatus, a Roman farmer of the 5 th. Century B.C. who, like Washington was called from his fields to lead his Country's Army in battle. Jim Davis

Anne was born 1766 and died giving birth to her tenth child in 1806. Capt. Davis secondly, married Joanna McSaan, Widow of Maj. McSaan she died in 1821. John Davis was noted in the Revolutionary War, present at the battles of Brandywine, Germantown,, Monmouth, Stony Point, Yorktown. At the surrender,of Cornwallis, Lafayette grasped his hand and said" This is a great day for America, Capt. Davis" In 1800, he was appointed Brig. Gen, 1st Brigade of Militia, Chester and Delaware Cos. Capt. John Davis at various times was a bodyguard to Gen.. Geo. Washington. Made a County Judge in 1803.
