Notes for Ross Currie: General Notes: Extract of a letter from Ticonderoga, September 16th 1776 Last Saturday a number of officers and privates, belonging to the Americna army. and who had been taken prisoners in Canada, arrived in this city agreeable to the proclamation of Gen. Charlton. They were sent in four transports, under convoy of the Pearl frigate of thirty-two guns, from Quebec to New York, where Gen. Howe detained them on board a fortnight. Amongst those now arrived are Gen. Thompson, Col. Irvine, Capt. Wilson, Capt. Duncan, Lieuts. Currie, Hope and Bird; Rev. M'Calla, and Dr. M'Kenzie. There are three hundred and eighty five privates, besides other officers, who are on their way to their respective States. From the Pennsylvania Gazette, 2nd October 1776 Had 2 children Deposition from Ross Currie, 19th April 1786 Province of New Brunswick ? Ross Currie maketh Oath that he resided at New York and in that part of Nova Scotia now called New Brunswick from the 15th day of 1783 to the 25th day of March 1784, and that he was prevented from preferring? or delivering to the Committee ? Appointed by Act of Parliament passed on the 23rd Year of his present Majestys Reign, intitled an Act for Appointing Commissioners to inquire into the Losses and Services of all such persons who have suffer'd in their Rights, Properties and Professions during the late unhappy dissentions in America, in consequence of their Loyalty to his Majesty and Attachment to the British Government; Or at their Office any?, Memorial, Claim or request, for Aid or relief on Account of his Losses during the late unhappy dissentions in America, within the time Allowed by the said Act for the viewing of such claim, by reason that he ? Depos'd ? part of the time above mentioned at New York to wit between the 15th day of July and the 12th of Septmeber 1783 and since that time he came with the Regt of Pennsylo. Loyalists to this place where he has resided ever since, And that his circumstances would not admit of his going to England for the purpose of making a personal Application.
