Mine Descriptions

Palmetto Mining District

This district is partially in Santa Cruz county and partially in Pima county.

The Palmetto district, adjoins the Harshaw district on the west, lying between the Tyndall district and the Patagonia district and extending from Sonoita Creek southwards for 6 miles to the divide north of Paloma Canyon. It is about 4 miles wide, being bordered on the west by a north-south line crossing Estrada's Ranch. In early days the Palmetto district was regarded as the area between Sonoita Creek and the international boundary, the crest of the Patagonia Mountains on the east and Santa Cruz River on the west.

The topography is rough2.
