Berwyn Methodist Episcopal Church, 1904

image not foundDescription: This 1904 Lucy Sampson image of the Berwyn Methodist Episcopal Church in Berwyn looks west across what was then called Church Avenue from St. Monica Roman Catholic Church. A virtually identical image (identifier BM01) taken in 1888 by Julius Sachse shows little change in a decade and a half except a slight increase in vegetation. In 2014 the former church serves as the Footlighter’ Theatre. The residence shown immediately to the north of the sanctuary remains to this day. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne. See also Julius Sachse biographical article. On album: In recent years bought by Trinity Presbyterian Church for educational purposes - now home of a theatrical group - first year 1974 - 75, “The Footlighters”
