Church of the Good Samaritan on Lancaster Pike, Paoli, 1888

image not foundDescription: The land on the south-side of the Lancaster Pike on which the first Episcopal parish in Paoli would reside was purchased in 1877, and the small church was built soon thereafter. In 2014 the old church is woven into a much more expansive campus, but parts of the original sanctuary remain recognizable. Lancaster Avenue has been widened compared to this 1887 image, but behind a box hedge can be seen the little wooden portico with a door that was once the sanctuary’s entrance. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
