Description: Photographed by Lucy Sampson in 1908-10, the front of the Devon Inn is viewed looking south from Berkley Road and just east of "the Boulevard." The grand entrance is only just viable through the many trees, planted on the once-open front lawn facing Berkley Road, that by this photograph obscures much of the detail of the Inn itself. By 1927, a similar scene of the front of what was by then called the Devon Park Hotel would have been impossible because of the foliage. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
