Reading Room, Lancaster Pike & Waterloo Ave. Berwyn

image not foundDescription: While the Berwyn Reading Room was for a time located on the second story of the building which is currently known as Clays Bakery on Waterloo Avenue at the Lancaster Pike, it is believed that in this interior image of the predecessor of the Easttown Library was housed in what was called the Yerkes Building, located immediately west of where Cassatt Avenue crossed the PRR “Main Line” to intersect with Lancaster Pike. On the far wall one can easily discern the Prudential calendar open to March 1908. On the reverse side of this postcard a note is written by William Burns, stating: “This is just a little corner of our library. I am librarian, have only been since April.” - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
