Great Valley Presbyterian Church

image not foundDescription: This is a postcard estimated to be from around 1904. The scene looks north across Swedesford Road to what would have been the fairly new sanctuary building of GVPC, replacing the original structure dedicated in 1794. The utility poles clearly seen flanking Swedesford Road carries telephone lines. It would be another 20 years before electrical power came to the Valley. In 2014, replicating this scene is no longer possible as the southern perimeter of Swedesford Road is lined with trees that obscure the church property from the residential subdivision to the south. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
