Description: In this Sampson image from 1905, the front entrance of this gingerbread-decorated, curtained PRR Superintendent’s Office in Paoli is viewed facing north. Sited above the PRR right-of-way, and located immediately east of the main Paoli station, it was built prior to a famous image of the Paoli station by PRR photographer William H. Rau in 1891. Yet, by 1926, when the Dallin Aerial Survey Co. photographed the Paoli station, the Superintendent’s Office is gone. Little information is known of its usefulness. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
