Berwyn Station Pennsylvania Railroad

image not foundDescription: This 1908 Sampson image was taken directly north across the tracks from the railroad station, just south of where the Baptist Chapel would have been. A wonderful view of the Berwyn station and the fully functioning bridge crossing the tracks. Along the horizon, the church steeples from left to right are from St. Monica Roman Catholic Church; and the Berwyn Methodist Episcopal Church across the street from St. Monica’s. Along the Philadelphia and Lancaster Turnpike from left to right, is the bank building; the building that was shared by the Jos. W. Shank Groceries & Meats, and the Berwyn Post Office; and the land across Church Ave. on which would stand Lichtenfeld’s Store. - Herb Fry and Roger Thorne
