Notes: I don't think the track material in this picture between the main tracks and the river are an indication of preparations for laying a third track. The third and fourth main tracks were not laid until the circa 1911-1912 realignment project. Instead, this looks like a materials storage yard for the local track maintenance gang. It is hard to see, but there is a white-painted tool house in the middle of this track material. This is actually a rare scene to be able to see a local material storage yard in the 1870s. - Rick Bates
