image not foundDescription: Brigade Marker-Pennsylvania Brigade Continental Army Valley Forge December 19, 1777 June 18, 1778 Stirlings Division Major General Lord Stirling Pennsylvania Brigade Commanding 3rd Regiment Infantry-Colonel Thomas Craig Raised January 1, 1777 mustered out November 3, 1783 6th Regiment Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Josiah Harmer Raised January 1, 1777 mustered out January 1, 1783 9th Regiment Infantry Lieutenant Colonel George Nagel Raised October 25, 1776 mustered out January, 17, 1781 12th Regiment Infantry - Colonel William Cooke Raised October 1, 1776 consolidated with 3rd Regiment Infantry July 1, 1778 DESCRIPTION - Granite with bronze plaque, 6 x 4 x 2. DONOR & DATE - The Valley Forge Park Commission under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1908. HISTORICAL DATA - Brig. General Thomas Conway had been promoted to Inspector General and left Valley Forge on December 31, 1777. This brigade however retained his name throughout the encampment.
