image not foundDescription: Memorial Marker-Brigadier General McIntosh HIGH COURT TO BRIGADIER GENERAL LACHLAN MCINTOSH A GENERAL CHARGED WITH THE SAFETY OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE CONTINENTAL ARMY AT VALLEY FORGE 1777-1778 A NATIVE OF GEORGIA IN COMMAND OF THE LIFE GUARD VIRGINIANS AND THE NORTH CAROLINA BRIGADE HIS MODEL UNIT WAS THE NUCLEUS OF FREDRICH VON STEUBENS DRILL CORPS. DEDICATED BY PATRIOTIC ORDER SONS OF AMERICA 1968 DESCRIPTION - Monument is a bronze plaque set in concrete flagpole. Size is 32’ x 16’. DONOR & DATE - Patriotic Order Sons of America, 1968. HISTORICAL DATA - It is believed that General McIntosh served as Commander of General Washingtons Life Guards and his unit became the nucleus of the drill corps trained directly by General Von Steuben, later carrying the drill to the other units in camp.
