Commanding 1st Massachusetts Infantry Col. Joseph Vose 4th Massachusetts Infantry Col. William Shepard 13th Massachusetts Infantry Col. Edward Wigglesworth 15th Massachusetts Infantry Col. Timothy Bigelow DESCRIPTION: Granite with iron plaque, 6’ x 4’ x 2’. DONOR & DATE: The Valley Forge Park Commission under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1908. HISTORICAL DATA: John Glover of Massachusetts had commanded the famous “Marblehead Regiment” the 19th Continental Regiment, which ferried Washington’s troops across the Delaware prior to the Battle of Trenton. By late 1777, he had been elevated to Brig. General and commanded a brigade of four Massachusetts regiments at Valley Forge.
