The Justice Bell, Valley Forge National Historical Park, 1915
Description: Exact photo date unknown. On June 15, 1915 the Justice Bell began its whistle stop tour of Pennsylvania in support of a proposed amendment to the Pennsylvania State Constitution giving women the right to vote. The tour covered more than 5,000 miles in less than six months and crisscrossed the state visiting all sixty-seven counties! Women in Pennsylvania finally gained the right to vote on September 25, 1920, a month after the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
