To The Public

By a publication which appeared in the American Republican and the Village Record of the 26th and 27th ult. attested by Jacob Beidler, wherein he has taken to screen himself from a certain charge therein mentioned. - Wonderful accuracy indeed. Truly as it relates to facts; in that publication, Mr. Beaver’s charlatanical and prejudicated mind must have been somewhat void of recollection, for the facts stated are not altogether correct; he says “what Mr. Beaver’s motive can be for making such a statement, I know not;” again he says “for I have never insinuated, but merely stated facts,” and comes out in saying, “by some person, etc.” and ends in saying “so expressed myself.” What Mr. Beidler’s motive can be for stating those things, I know not, for I am aware that Mr. Beidler must have known my motives, for I had acquainted him thereof long before the publication appeared. I am also aware he must have known, that he had insinuated by mentioning my name in person and so expressed himself. And the facts are, as were stated in the “advertisement” as he chose to call it, of the 19th and 20th, and for the truth thereof, I am willing and ready to justify the same, before any Court of Justice, or any other tribunal he wishes, to have the same investigated to his full satisfaction. Already had more been said than was designed, at the commencement of this affair. Should I have cause to come before the public again, I shall then give a full detail of the whole transaction, and then leave it for the public to say who has been wrong. - Should his future course be to become an instructor to the public again, care and caution should prompt him, at least, to be accurate and particular in his facts, and to be controlled by reason, and not by prejudice.
