Dear Brother

I take up my pen to wright to you to let you know that I am well at present. I have written three times and received no answer. I don’t know whether you got them or not. If you did not and did not answer them then I should write no more letters home. Perhaps I may be mistaken. They may have been miscarried!

If you receive this wright if it is but two lines.
This is my last.
Goodbye for a long time unless it is answered from you.

Ever your brother
George Washington Lewis
