License Petition for the Eagle Hotel

To the Honorable the Judge within named

The Subscribers begs leave to represent that he lives in the immediate neighborhood of the house described in the petition. That on every day, except Sundays, the said house, for some time past, has been opened for the reception of persons intending to take passage in the railroad cars, who resort there in large numbers but that no refreshment is furnished except that as is ? by the fires kept up by the proprietor. That on Sundays, when the said house is closed, the said persons, necessarily, resort to the house of the subscriber to his great inconvenience, and the annoyance of his family.

And the subscriber ? then represent that, for the reasons ? in the petition, and the use which he has furnished, an inn or tavern is much wanted for public accommodation, to be kept in the house owned by Mr. Lewis

Signed: Martha Kennedy & (indeciferable)
