PUSHING LATTA'S VOTE |
Philadelphia Nov. 4 - The friends of General Agent William J. Latta, of the Pennsylvania Railroad, one of the candidates for Elector on the Democratic National ticket, are making a vigorous effort to push that gentleman's vote beyond that of his colleagues, rather out of compliment to him than with any hope of electing him. Andrew McClain, a strong friend of Mr. Latta, declared on the Commercial Exchange yesterday that he knew of 1,000 Republicans who would vote for Mr. Latta, and that John Wanamaker, one of the Republican candidates for elector, would be scratched. Pennsylvania Railroad officials denied yesterday that any effort was being made to intimidate employees to vote for Mr. Latta as charged, and that if sitckers for Mr. Latta had been sent to the men it was being done by the General Agent’s friends and not by him.
