An Elaborate Affair

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Walker, of Gap, Give Their Tenth Annual Dinner

On Thursday afternoon the handsome residence of Mr. Joseph C. Walker, at “Gap Heights,” was the scene of a most elaborate dinner, given by Mr. and Mrs. Walker. For the past ten years the estimable couple have made it their object to given an annual dinner to a few of their friends, and their hospitality is highly appreciated by those by those fortunat enough to be invited. These festivities have always been a grand success, and the tenth annual dinner was no exception to the rule, for without doubt it was one of the most delightful of the series.

The table was decorated with flowers and the following excellent menu was served in Caterer Payne’s usual good style: Clams, clear green turtle, sheepshead, lobster sauce, cucumbers, potatoes, roast lamb, winter sauce, peas, potatoes, Roman punch, sweet breads, asparagus tips, tmoato salad, cheese and wafers, ices, strawberries, fancy cakes, coffee, liqueurs and cigars.

Those present were William J. Latta, general agent Pennsylvania railroad; William B. Wilson, division frieght agent Pennsylvania railroad, William Hammersley, private secretary to General Agent Latta, Jacob E. Barr, of Porter & Coates, Philadelphia; Hamilton Markley, freight agent, Kensington; B. Maurice Herr, cashier at Gap National Bank; E. E. Walker, of the firm J. C. Walker & Son, Gap; Hon. H. C. Brubaker, Lancaster; J. S. Latta, E. G. Dixon, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Bell, C. B. Ellmaker, Rev. James McCoy and Mr. Nassau, of Philadelphia.

Hon. W. U. Hensel and Thos. B. Cochran, Esq. of Lancaster, and Miss Latta, of Philadelphia, were also invited, but were unable to be present.
