By virtue of a writ of Venditioni Exponas, to me directed, will be exposed to public sale, on the premises, on Monday, the 30th instant, at the hour of 11 o'clock, A. M. A messuage and tract of land, situate in the township of Tredyffrin, containing 200 acres, more or less; bounded by lands of Josiah Evans, Hannah Lloyd, Evan Lewis and others; late the estate of John O Conner, esq; but taken in execution at the suit of Jeremiah Warder, Jeremiah Parker, and Richard Parker, and to be sold, by

Notes

This a civil case raised by Jeremiah Warder, Jeremiah Parker, and Richard Parker against the estate of John O’Conner for repayment of a loan (probably a mortgage). Venditioni Exponas is the legal procedure to allow the Sheriff to sell property. These are pretty common cases.

So I looked for John O’Conner (and many spelling variants) in the Tredyffrin and Chester County records. There are no deeds under that name, and no tax returns. There are no Chester county probates or administrations.

Then I looked at Hannah Lloyd and obtained the same lack of results.

I got one hit for Evan Lewis. He was a neighbor of a Tredyffrin property, but his property was in Radnor.

So my guess is that the reference to Tredyffrin is wrong and the property being sold was in Radnor, but I don’t have an information to confirm that supposition. - MB
