Valley Forge School and Frank and Kate Bode |
In 1836 John & Sarah Workizer sold a tract of 40 perches to the School Directors of Schuylkill township. The tract’s southern boundary was the Philadelphia Road. In 1921 Frank and Kate Bode purchased two properties in Schuylkill township. The first property was on the north side of the Philadephia Road. It comprised 40 perches of land, which was the original school tract in Valley Forge. The cost was $1,100. The second tract was on the south side of Diamond Rock road but was adjacent to the first tract. It comprised 1.5 acres and cost $300. Note the disparity in prices between the 2 tracts. The reason for this difference is not apparent. References
