Obituaries: SCARTOZZI CORDINE S.

Cordine S. Scartozzi, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. A lifelong resident of Chester County, PA, he was born in Strafford on July 22, 1923 to Camillo and Adelina (Chiappini) Scartozzi. Cordine worked in the hardware business from the time he was a young man until his recent illness. He began as an employee of Strafford Hardware and established his own store, The Hardware Center (Paoli Hardware), in 1951. He served as a medic during World War II in the Pacific Region. Cordine was an active member of the Devon-Strafford Lions Club and served for many years on Malvern Federal Bank's Board of Directors. He was honored as the 1976 Paoli Business Person of the Year, and honored again in 2014 as "The Scartozzi Family" won the award. He was an avid golfer, a devoted family man, and enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marie Pressede (Bryn Mawr, PA). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Nancy and her husband Kenneth Reed, his sons Stephen Scartozzi and wife Lynn (Tagye) and Gregory Scartozzi and his wife Susan (Getchell). Cordine was Pop-Pop to his six grandchildren Alexandra Pickel (Jordache), Victoria DelMastro (Frank), Matthew Scartozzi, Andrea Dwyer (John), Stephanie Vitali (Louis), and Gregory Scartozzi (Ann Schimpf). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grand-daughter Christine Scartozzi. A visitation for friends and family will be held in the Sacred Heart Chapel at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Strafford on Monday December 18 from 9:00 to 10:25, Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30. Interment to follow at Calvary Cem in Conshohocken. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Cordine's honor to: Paoli Hospital Foundation, 255 West Lancaster Ave. Paoli Pa. 19301.
