A valuable Plantation and tract of Land

For Public Sale
ON Thursday the 11th of October
next, at 1 o'clock P.M. on the
premises near the 16th mile stone,
a valuable Plantation and tract of Land, late the property of William
Neill deceased, situate part in
Easttown and part in Tredyffrin
townships, Chester county, and
bounded by lands of James Gamble,
Griffith Wheatherby, Jos. Potter
and the Lancaster turnpike road
containing about 45 acres, nine of
which are woodland, it is divided
into convenient fields and chiefly by
thorn fences, the land has been
principally limed over, and is in a good
state of cultivation. The improvements
are a good 2 story stone house
nearly new, having 2 rooms on the
first floor and 3 on the 2d floor, and
a good cellar under the whole house,
a well of excellent water that
never fails near the door, a very good
stone barn with stabling undernearth,
and an orchard of choice grafted
fruit. Any person wishing to view
the premises will please to apply
to Mr. James Gamble adjoining the
premises or to either of the subscribers.

William Neill was a tobacconist who lived in Tredyffrin. He purchased and sold a number of properties.

This property was mainly in Easttown. In 1820 Margaret Neill attempted to rent out the property. She may have sold part of the plantation between the times of the 2 advertisements, explaining the differences in the area quoted.

Eventually a tract of around 40 acres was sold on the west side of Berwyn. It was acquired by Mary A. Lewis in the 1870s and her tract is shown on Breou's 1883 atlas:
