Will of John Havard (1797)

Be it remembered that I John Havard of Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and State of Pennsylvania yeoman, being weak in body but of a sound disparing? mind, and memory, think fit to make this my last Will and Testament in manner following by:

First I order my Executor to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses.

Item it is my will that my Executor put to interest on good security as soon after my decease as may be convenient two hundred pounds which with the said interest I give and devise to my grandchildren John Havard Davis, Samuel Havard Davis, Sarah Davis and Charles Davis equally, or to such of them as shall arrive to twenty one years of age.

Item it is my will that my Executor put as aforesaid the residue of my personal estate to interest, and pay the interest there of to my daughter Mary Davis during her natural life, and after her decease, the residue to be equally divided among such of her children as may arrive to twenty one years and be then living.

Item I give and devise all the reals[?] and profits of my real estate to my said daughter during her natural life, ? my Executor to prevent any waste or destruction on the premises and if she die before my said grandson John arrive to twenty one years of age, I authorize and impower my Executor to rent out my said estate and apply the clear profits thereof towards the maintenance of her children in such manner as he may think proper, and at the (de)termination of my said daughter’s life, and when my said grandson John Havard Davis arrives to twenty one years of age I give and devise all my real estate aforesaid to my said grandsonJohn Havard Davis his heirs and assigns forever.

And lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my nephew Benjamin Jacobs of Chester County aforesaid Executor of this my last Will and Testament , hereby revoking and disannulling all other former Wills and dispositions.
