10.03.1843 American Republican
By virtue of a writ of venditioni exponas, to me
directed, will be sold at public sale on Saturday,
the 28th day of October next, at one o'clock, P.M.,
on the premises, a certain tavern and tract of land,
situate in the township of Tredyffrin and county of
Chester, bounded by lands of Daniel Abrams and
land belonging to the Baptist church, containing 30
acres, more or less, with the appurtenances. The
improvements consist of a large 2 story tavern
house, conveniently arranged ; frame barn, stables,
spring house, and other out buildings. There is also
a store house, with a dwelling attached, and now
occupied as such. The land is in a high state of
cultivation, divided into convenient fields, well watered
and fenced and has a good proportion of meadow
and woodland. The tavern and store house is
situated at the intersection of several public roads,
and is in a good stand for business. There is an apple
orchard on the premises and various other fruit
trees. Seized and taken in execution as the the property
of John Henry, and to be sold by
WILLIAM ROGERS, Sheriff.
Sheriffs Office, West Chester,

N.B. The Sheriff has made the following
one of the conditions of his sale of Real
Estate, and it will be enforced in the sale of
the above premises. Fifty dollars of the price
or sum at which the property shall be struck
off, shall be paid to the Sheriff at the time of
sale, unless the purchase money be less than
that sum in which case only the purchase
money shall be paid, otherwise the property
will again be immediately put up and sold.

See the Rowland Richards Purchase for the deed history. This is the Centerville hotel and tract. The date is 1843, not 1848 which is written on the top of the clipping.
