Fire in the Woods

11.28.1854 American Republican
FIRE IN THE WOODS. - A correspondent in Tredyffrin,
to whom we are indebted for many favors, informs
us that on Saturday the 18th, no little excitement
was produced in the neighbourhood by an
alarm that a fire was spreading among the timber
on a portion of the north Valley Hill. A number
of persons very promptly repaired to the spot and
with some difficulty succeeded in staying the flames,
with very little consequent damage. The day was
calm, otherwise much injury might have been done.
The fire it is supposed was caused by a burning wad
from the gun of some sportsman.
