Death of Philander Knox |
Date: 21 October 1921
Death of Senator Knox.
We hear with regret of the
sudden death of Senator Knox last
Wednesday. The Senator was undoubtedly one of the ablest of
American lawyers, and the most
practical of administrators, with a
great wealth of political experience
behind him. Friends of the League
of Nations know to their cost how
great was the influence he wielded
in the Senate and indeed upon his
party in general. But that same
influence would have served his
country in good stead during the
forthcoming Washington Conference, and would have certainly
strengthened the hands of the
President to the advantage of the
Conference as a whole.
