Schuylkill township Schools |
Schuylkill township school board A deed from 1856 states that John Acker was the president and Henry Dyer Secretary of the School Board of the School Directors of Schuylkill township1. Pawlings Road school The land for this school was purchased by Joseph B. Pennypacker, James Coffez, & Thomas Rossiter, the trustees, in 18342. It was 28.6 perches in area. The school is on the 1851, 1873, and 1883 maps. Society’s Old School In 1808 Jacob Hawk and Isaac Anderson sold a tract of 42 perches to trustees for a school3. The trustees were Matthias Pennypacker, Peter Supplee, Benjamin Boyer, John Hawk, Edward Anderson, Frederick Rapp, and John Davis. The school is on the 1851 and 1873 maps. Township Line Road school This school was located on the corner of Pot House and Township Line roads. The school is on the 1851 map. The land for the school was purchased from Daniel & Margaret High in 1829 but the deed was not recorded. The land and building was sold to Simeon Buzzard in 18561. Valley Forge School In 1836 John and Sarah Workizer sold 40 perches of land to the Schuylkill township school board4 on the north side of the Phildelphia road. The school is on the 1851 map. The school burnt down (date unknown). In 1921 the tract was sold to Frank and Kate Bode. In 1869 Matthew and Susanna Ross sold 1 acre of land to the Schuylkill township school board5 located on the south side of the Diamond Rock road. The school is on Breou’s 1883 map. Chrisman’s School House On Pot House road on the 1873 map. The one acre of land for the school was purchased from Henry and Elizabeth Chrisman in 18566. Nutt’s Road School The one acre of land for the school was purchased from Susan Justin in 18707. The school is on Breou’s Map of 1883. References
