In 1727 Richard Iddings purchased a tract of 100 acres and a messuage at a Sheriff's sale. When Richard died in 1753 he bequeathed the property to his daughter Elizabeth Wayne, wife of Isaac Wayne. They split the tract into smaller parcels that they sold off, mainly in the 1790s.

One of these parcels, of 1 acre, which included the Iddings House seems to have been sold to John Hampton, although no deed exists. He sold the property in 1813. No Glass Tax return has been identified for this property. The construction date has been estimated as 1750.
