Public Sale of Real Estate, 160 acres, formerly a Tannery

WILL be sold, at public sale, at THE PHILADELPHIA EXCHANGE, by M. Thomas & Son, auctioneers on Tuesday evening, 9th of January, 1849, at half past 6 o'clock p.m., the farm now owned and occupied by Dr. Edmand [sic] [Edmund] C. Evans, situate in Tredyffrin township, Chester county, adjoining the Paoli on the North, in the Great Valley and formerly, belonging to Mr. Randall Evans, containing 160 Acres of land, of which about 40 are Woodland, and the remainder arable, in a good state of cultivation, having been nearly all limed within five years, and about 500 panels of new post and rail fence put up within the same time. The buildings are a stone House, 54 feet by 32, with stone Kitchen, Milk House and Bath House attached, all in first rate order, having been newly roofed and thoroughly repaired ; the water is introduced into the house by lead pipes from a spring of soft water from a neighboring emmence. ? There is a large stone Barn 60 feet by 40 feet, with ample stabling fo horses and cattle ; adjoining is a stone stable and coach house, pig house, work shop, and wood shed. There is also a large Wagon House with Corn Crib and Granaries above. The barn yard has a constant supply of water from lead pipes, and the farm is well watered by several streams and springs. Upon the lower end of the premises, are large stone buildings and arrangements formerly used as a TANNERY, where was done an immense business by Mr. Randall Evans. There is a dairy mall ? at the Paoli, to and from Philadelphia, and constant communication with the city, by the Columbia Railroad giving this farm with its other conveniences, great advantages as a dairy farm.
