This list was produced by Mike O’Brien and Eddy Rubin, 2007; last updated 2012. The descriptions that follow expand on the short phrases given in the tables.

Habitat

Edge - wood margins, hedgerows, scrub.
Fields(a) - abandoned and fallow fields.
Fields(h) - hayfields.
Fields(m) - muddy fields (plowed, harvested).
Floodplain - bottomland forest, floodplain, swamp.
Gardens - gardens, orchards, farmyards.
Water - rivers, reservoirs, ponds, impoundments.

Abundance

Common - commonly found and may be expected to be observed in it’s habitat.
Uncommon - present in few numbers and is more difficult to observe.
Rare - rarely present in the Preserve and surrounding areas.

Description

Often seen in flocks - this description covers both small groups and larger flocks.
Seen in flight - often seen overhead or flying at a distance.
Species have been seen in the area unless otherwise noted.
